The donkey’s only usefulness is to transport you with a trade pack on your back faster than you could do yourself on foot. It travels at 5,0 m/s, so it’s still slow, and you will likely not use it for long. Despite this, it’s worth getting one early on as there are a few useful daily trading missions that you might want to do. But if you are aiming for a career in trading, you really want to get yourself a farm cart as soon as you can.
