Sadly, you can only play co-op in local multiplayer and not online, although EA has hinted that might change in the future. You can, of course, play normal competitive matches online whenever you want.
Playing VOLTA does not take you away from your favorite teams; instead, you get to play a smaller version of that squad, but it’s dependant on the rules you choose. The size of the team alters what rules are used, with the team sizes being 3 vs. 3, 4 vs. 4, 5 vs. 5; you also can play with or without goalkeepers.
