WoW Classic – Rank Decay

Every week, your Ranking Points (RP) decrease by 20%. So if you’re not placed in high enough brackets, it’s challenging to reach top PVP ranks. The decay can either reduce or even exceed the RP you earn that week.

To find out how much RP you’ll have after the weekly reset, you can use the formula:

RP after reset = 0.8 x (RP from last week) + (RP from this week).

For example, if you have 40,000 RP (which is rank 10) and get placed into bracket 10 (earning 9,000 RP) on reset day, here’s how it looks:

RP after reset = 0.8 x 40,000 + 9,000 RP after reset = 32,000 + 9,000 RP after reset = 41,000.

So after the reset, you’ll still be at rank 10 with 41,000 RP…
